Hi I'm Barb
Living in Canmore, Alberta it is snowy and cold here much of the year so when I am not skiing my studio is my haven. I have been painting for 40 years and it continues to bring me joy – something I hope to share with you.
One day in 2019 while painting in my studio and I realized something – every time I began a new painting I started with play. I scribbled, moved paint all over the canvas and basically let the materials guide me – without thinking. Then it occurred to me that this was the best part! The play step made the paintings personal, imperfect and joyful. So I decided I needed to share this with others. In September of that year I started my JoyMakers program.
JoyMakers is a different kind of art class. It isn’t about learning to paint a tree, it is about learning to love the paint and love the process of putting it down on paper. Watercolours are the perfect medium for this. They are simple to use, fun to layer and they can get a bit messy!
In my JoyMakers classes you will learn some painting techniques while letting go of the stresses of your day. Following me step by step in the classroom or online will take your mind off the outcome and keep you in the moment – just the paint, the brushes the paper and you. It really is magic.
I believe that watercolour painting can be not only a tool for self-expression but one for self-exploration. For this reason I do everything I can to cater to all levels of experience so that when you arrive you will be guaranteed to have some fun! At a time when life is so full and often complicated JoyMakers promises to bring some bliss to your day.

Thanks for stopping by to check it out.
